Job Description

The Casual Health Care Assistant works under the direction and delegation of a Registered Nurse or General Practitioner to provide primary care nursing support, patient interventions and treatment within the Medical Centre. Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or General Practitioner, this role is responsible for providing patient-centred, culturally appropriate, and individual holistic care to patients. This position reports directly to the Practice Manager

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Caregiving or health‑related training and/or relevant work experience
  • Compassionate, warm, and professional approach to patient care
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team
  • Good time management and a strong sense of responsibility and accountability
  • Willingness to learn new skills and follow clinical protocols
  • Understanding of, or willingness to work within a Tūhoe Medical Centre
  • Basic clinical skills (e.g. observations such as blood pressure, weight, temperature) are an advantage
  • Fluency in the Tūhoe dialect is desirable but not essential
  • Second to none work ethic to bring about wellness
