Job Description

We're looking for a Finance Systems & Bookkeeping Coordinator who is passionate about helping people gain confidence with financial systems and processes. You'll be the person who knows Xero inside out, enjoys solving problems, and thrives on helping others become more capable and self-sufficient.

This isn't a typical bookkeeping role.

Yes, you'll keep the books accurate and up to date. But more importantly, you'll help our people understand, use and get the most out of the tools and systems that support good financial management.

If you're the person colleagues always call when they're stuck in Xero, this could be the role for you.

About the role

Working as part of our Finance Team, you'll help ensure our financial systems are accurate, user-friendly and fit for purpose across Te Uru Taumatua and our wider network.

You will:

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and reconciliations.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Assist with payroll administration.
  • Be the primary point of contact for Xero support and troubleshooting.
  • Train and coach kaimahi to confidently use financial systems and processes.
  • Develop simple tools, resources and guidance to improve financial capability.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Support strong financial discipline and accuracy across the organisation.

Desired Skills and Experience

What we're looking for

A Xero expert

You know Xero exceptionally well and enjoy helping others get the best from it. You can quickly identify issues, simplify processes and find practical solutions.

A great bookkeeper

You love accuracy, organisation and getting the details right. You understand how strong bookkeeping creates confidence in financial reporting.

A patient teacher

You can explain financial processes in plain English and adapt your approach to suit different levels of confidence and experience.

A systems improver

You naturally spot inefficiencies and enjoy finding better ways of working.

A relationship builder

You are approachable, supportive and able to build positive working relationships across all parts of the organisation.

You'll bring

  • Proven bookkeeping experience.
  • Strong practical experience using Xero.
  • Confidence working with accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting payroll and finance administration.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Office skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to train, coach and guide others.
  • Great communication skills and a service mindset.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Enjoy helping others succeed.
  • Are naturally curious and solutions-focused.
  • Like making complex things simple.
  • Take pride in maintaining high standards.
  • Enjoy improving systems and processes.
  • Believe capability is something that should be shared, not guarded.

If you're a bookkeeping professional who loves Xero, enjoys helping others learn, and gets satisfaction from creating organised and efficient systems, we'd love to hear from you.
